Finally got to look at one of these up close at my local powersports dealer. Man these things are cool. I really wish there was a way to road register them here in PA.
The entire tub is coated on the inside with bedliner-like material.
Easily the best and coolest new car available for $15k. Now if only it could be used on public roads, we’d probably be seeing these things everywhere.

I can’t go and look at one. Otherwise I might buy it

Im quite bothered that I see SxS on the roads here in U tah ALL. THE. TIME. but these can’t be road registered.

Certain states allow SxS to be registered and plated. I’m sure these will be allowed in the same states.

I’d rather buy one of these than a Gator or Rhino.

They can't? How are they different from any other SxS you can buy?

Good Jeep
Bad Name

As far as I’ve read that wont be the case.

don’t know, but from what I’ve heard even in states where you can register SxS these will NOT be eligible for plates at all.

That makes no damn sense

methinks there was some backroom meetings with the Jeep people regarding competition.

That doesn’t make a whole lotta sense, either. Would they really be that concerned about competition from a vehicle that can only be driven in a handful of states at 45mph? I think the speed alone would be a deal breaker for the average Wrangler buyer.
![]() 07/09/2018 at 12:23 |

yes, but remember that speed is artificially limited by electronics.

Pa you can register as a street rod. I don't know if there's any issues since they are imported though. Also maybe missing turn signals?

Evidence sir. We need it. This is important. It will be the decider if I move out west or not.

Good point about the turn signals!

well I know in Utah its not eligable on weight alone
““Utility Type Vehicle” means any recreational vehicle designed for and capable of travel over unimproved terrain: traveling on four or more tires, having a width of 30 to 70 inches, having an unladen dry weight of 2,200 pounds or less, having a seat height of 25 to 40 inches when measured at the forward edge of the seat bottom, and having side by side seating with a steering wheel for control. “Utility type vehicle” does not include an all-terrain type I vehicle, a motorcycle or a snowmobile.”

Yes, but in Utah at least it is also limited by law on road legal ATVs.

I agree, Im just saying that I think it wouldn’t be hard to put a plate street legal kit on one, plate it, remove the limiter and take it on the highway. What highway patroller is going to think twice about what appears to be an old jeep trundling down the highway.

Which, effectively it is, so I don’t really see why not.
Safety standards are important but I wish there was more wiggle room for niche vehicles. No one’s buying this instead of a Camry to take their kids to school, they’re buying it instead of a CJ-2 or CJ-5 that’s just as unsafe.
